Brent and Shelley Teague
Biographical Information
Brent, Shelley and their daughters Ashley (3/5/93) and Amber (10/11/94) were appointed as missionaries to Niger in 1994.
Brent, son of missionaries Willard and Jerlene Teague, grew up in the Ivory Coast. After high school he attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University and graduated in 1988 with a B.S. in electronics technology. While at Southeastern he felt a call to the ministry and founded a Chi Alpha student fellowship at the university. Following graduation Brent went to Togo on a three year Missionary Associate assignment and served at the West Africa Advanced School of Theology. During the three years at WAAST he served as a regional computer specialist for the Assemblies of God and founded a Chi Alpha ministry at the national university. In 1990 Brent completed a Bachelor of Theology degree at WAAST. During this missions assignment Brent met Shelley who was serving in Ghana. They were married June 2, 1990 and completed the last year of their three-year term together.
Shelley, daughter of Bob and Janette Gray, grew up in Oklahoma and Kansas. While in high school in Winfield, Kansas she went on an AIM trip to Mexico. She had felt a call to missions from early on in her childhood. She studied at Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri from 1984 to 1988. During the summer of her junior year Shelley went to Accra, Ghana as a missions intern. The Lord touched her heart for Africa and confirmed His call to her during the 8 weeks of ministry. After graduating in 1988 from C.B.C. Shelley returned to Ghana as a Missionary Associate.
Brent and Shelley served in Denison, Texas as associate pastors before applying for appointment as foreign missionaries. They arrived in Africa in December 1995 to begin their ministry in Niger. They are church planters in this Muslim nation. Over the past 12 years they have planted nine churches in the western region of Niger. Shelley coordinates ministry to the children through street clubs, Bible clubs, and Sunday School and serves on the regional children's committee. She also is very involved with womens ministries and serves on the national executive committee. Brent serves as the director of the Bible School in Niamey as well as the Niger Global University national center.
